Rajya Sabha member D Raja is appointed the general secretary of the Communist Party of India (CPI)
He will replace Sudhakar Reddy
He stepped down due to health reasons
Reddy got elected to the post thrice
The decision to appoint Raja to the post of general secretary taken at the party’s national council meeting.

About CPI – Lok Sabha Elections
It is the second-largest party in Indian Politics
But they face a worse crisis in the electoral numbers at an all-time low.
The party got only two seats in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections.
The candidates who won the election belongs to Tamil Nadu.

He is a politician and the member of Rajya Sabha from Tamil Nadu.
He belongs to the Communist Party of India.
He belongs to the National Secretary of the Party from 1994 to 2019.
He is a two-time Rajya Sabha member from Tamil Nadu.
His term at the Upper House ends on 24 July.
