Rajnath Singh cochaired the 19th IRIGC Military and Military Technical Cooperation

The 19th India-Russia Inter-Governmental Commission on Military and Military-Technical Cooperation (IRIGC-M&MTC) meeting was held in Moscow, Russia. It was co-chaired India Defence Minister Rajnath Singh by Russian Defence Minister General Sergey Shoigu. Rajnath Singh is on his two visits to Russia on 5-7 November.

♦ The Defence mInisters affirmed the special and privileged strategic partnership was further strengthened between India and Russia after the Vladivostok summit in September 2019
♦ Singh inspected the Guard of Honour at the Russian Defence Ministry in Central Moscow
♦ Russia termed India as an exclusive strategic defence partner
♦ Singh highlighted the importance of the Inter-Governmental Agreement (IGA) on the manufacturing of components, spares, and aggregates in India through joint ventures (JVs). The JVs are expected that it would reduce cost, timelines of supply and result in progressive indigenization. The IGA will provide a major boost to the Make in India initiative
♦ Russia assured its participation in DefExpo 2020, which to be held on 5-8 February 2020 in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh
♦ The Russian side affirmed its readiness to operationalize the joint venture Indo-Russia Rifles Private Limited for the manufacture of world-class Kalashnikov AK 203 rifles in India at the earliest
♦ The two Ministers also signed a protocol
♦ Russia reaffirmed its strong support to India in the field of counter-terrorism
♦ The ministers also reviewed the progress of the two working groups on Military and Military-Technical Cooperation (M&MTC)
♦ Russia confirmed its readiness to deepen exchanges between the Military Training Institutions further. Ur also affirmed the deputation of an officer for the National Defence College (NDC)course in New Delhi, commencing 2020
♦ He also visited St Petersburg and laid wreath at the Piskarevsky Memorial Cemetery
